ABOUT CANCER SCAN
Ongoing efforts by scientists, researchers, and physicians have led to significant progress in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer. Nevertheless, cancer is responsible for one-quarter of all deaths in the United States and recognized as the second leading cause of death worldwide.
Breast cancer is currently the most common type of cancer (based on the number of estimated new cases in 2018), and one in every eight women will be diagnosed during her lifetime – a simply staggering and unacceptable statistic.
CANCER SCAN is a project focused on developing an innovative breast cancer detection method based on optic and quantum technologies, which will improve detection rates, minimize radiation exposure, and save lives.
